Tricks and treats spark record attendance

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - NEWS -

WITCHES and warlocks, superheroes and villains, creepy critters and fantasy favourites all descended on St Marys in record numbers on Sunday.

A total of 1195 children registered for the annual trick or treat festival on Queen St – more than double the previous year.

Town centre manager Paulette Adams said she never imagined so many would take part. “It was wonderful but it was crazy, we ran out of stuff and never expected any- where near the number of children we had register on the day,” Ms Adams said.

“Every year we look at how it has grown and always anticipate for more each year but just never imagined what we had.”

Ms Adams said last year 589 children registered, compared to 574 the year before, so it was estimated 700 children would turn up. She thanked everyone for their patience and understanding at the wait time for registering.
