Reed has cre­ated a ro­man­tic light­ing scheme us­ing lamps, rope light­ing draped along the liv­ing room wall and pen­dant lights hang­ing off wall hooks in the bed­room.

“I had to be clever with light­ing — I pre­fer wall lights to ceil­ing lights as they add soft­ness,” she says.

Start­ing with base items such as the neu­tral couch, white din­ing chairs and sim­ple shelv­ing, Reed has built up lay­ers of tex­ture and colour, with hints of blue, green and red as well as wooden and nat­u­ral tones.

Reed de­scribes her home as a blend of beachy and Euro­pean, mod­ern and clas­sic.

“My main aim was to cre­ate a re­ally com­fort­able, homely space, es­pe­cially for a rental,” she says.

“I wanted lots of lay­ers and tex­tures and just some­where to feel re­laxed, read a book and en­ter­tain. There’s a feel­ing of calm and I love spend­ing time here, which is ex­actly what I was af­ter.”
