antlers and fabric hangings do the same for the walls.
Reed has created a romantic lighting scheme using lamps, rope lighting draped along the living room wall and pendant lights hanging off wall hooks in the bedroom.
“I had to be clever with lighting — I prefer wall lights to ceiling lights as they add softness,” she says.
Starting with base items such as the neutral couch, white dining chairs and simple shelving, Reed has built up layers of texture and colour, with hints of blue, green and red as well as wooden and natural tones.
Reed describes her home as a blend of beachy and European, modern and classic.
“My main aim was to create a really comfortable, homely space, especially for a rental,” she says.
“I wanted lots of layers and textures and just somewhere to feel relaxed, read a book and entertain. There’s a feeling of calm and I love spending time here, which is exactly what I was after.”
