Future burns bright for AFL team captain
OAKHURST resident Jayden Rapley lives and breathes Australian rules.
The 11-year-old found his passion for the sport in school, captaining both the Hebersham Public School’s junior and senior teams.
Jayden’s talents were quickly noticed and he was given a scholarship to play for the St Clair Crows – coming away as undefeated premiers.
During a PSSA game at school, Jayden was noticed by an AFL scout Andrew Lowing who said: “Jayden could be one of the best back pockets for his age that I have ever seen.”
He dreams of one day playing in the AFL professionally and his team manager Laure Gatt believes he could.
“Jayden is a natural leader and athlete who is mature beyond his years and will have big future in AFL,” he said.
“The main things Jayden did this year – apart from play great was to lead by example and provide a role model,” Mrs Gatt said.
