CUSTOM motorbikes are the hottest thing on two wheels for bike fiends who want a unique ride with a snazzy, vintage look.

“People are steering away from the Harley and Chopper-type look and going for cafe racers and trackers built from scratch,” Gasoline Motor Co owner Jason Gasoline said.

“They are what is in fashion, what the hipsters ride.”

Building custom bikes takes passion and excellent bike mechanic skills, both of which Gasoline’s technician extravaganza, Sean Taylor, has in spades.

“This isn’t a nine to five job for me. I’m always researching, drawing and waiting to wake up in the morning to get into the workshop,” he said.

Taylor has been obsessed with bikes since his dad – “a crazy bike head” – introduced him to the machines as a boy.

“I’m inspired by other people’s energy and excitement about riding but the coolest thing about motorcycles is individuality,” he said. “People want to make their bike their own and it’s my job to try and make that a reality.”
