NEW ESTATES PROMISE TO DELIVER ON WEST’S NEED FOR JOBS

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - NEWS - Jillian McKee Will the estate be a positive for the area? @thedruitt

ERSKINE Park will be the home of thousands of new jobs with a $218 million 24hour industrial estate to be built next year, pending approval from the State Government.

The Oakdale South Industrial Estate on 117ha of vacant land on Milner Ave, is a joint venture of Goodman Property Management and Brickworks Limited. The project is part of Oakdale Estate, which includes the already-built Oakdale Central (in Horsley Park) and Oakdale East and West estates, which are expected to be built over the next 10 years.

If approved, the Erskine Park site will likely house a number of national and international companies. As part of the Western Sydney Employment Area, Oakdale South will generate between 1500 and 2000 jobs initially, with up to 7000 jobs when the entire estate is operational.

The estate will be a regional warehousing and distribution hub for Western Sydney, covering almost 400,000sq m and will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A Goodman spokesman said the project would bring a huge boost to the area.

“(The site) will create a high-quality warehouse and logistics estate resulting in both construction and operational jobs for the region,” he said. The company will also contribute $20 million to upgrading surrounding roads, including Old Wallgrove Rd, the spokesman said.

Mulgoa state Liberal MP Tanya Davies said she welcomed the estate.

“This development will provide the sort of employ- ment opportunities that our growing region requires,” she said. “The NSW Government is working hard to accelerate the delivery of more jobs and opportunities.”
