An Erskine Park man has been charged for allegedly embezzling more than $1 million from his former employer. In August, police were contacted by a Marrickville-based business after the company’s director noticed a number of inconsistencies in the business’ accounts. Marrickville police began an investigation and on Saturday and arrested a 45-year-old Erskine Park man at St Marys police station. The man was charged with 41 separate offences relating to the alleged embezzlement of approximately $1.12 million from the Marrickville-based company. In court, police will allege the man embezzled the money over an eight-year period from 2007 through until earlier this year, when he left the company. At the time of the alleged offences, the man was performing clerical duties at the business. The man, who was granted conditional bail, is set to appear before Newtown Court on December 7.
MT DRUITT Police are investigating a fight involving up to eight people at Dawson Mall on Friday. About 10.30pm, a number of men were fighting near the bus interchange, when a 27-yearold man from Tregear was allegedly kicked and punched a number of times. As a result police were called. One of the men allegedly involved in the incident boarded a bus and left the area, which the police stopped a short distance away. A 50-year-old Bidwill man was arrested and charged. The alleged victim was taken to Nepean Hospital where he received treatment for cuts and bruising to his body and head. Anyone with information is urged to call Mt Druitt police on 9675 0699.
MT DRUITT A set of knuckle dusters and a flick knife were allegedly found on a man when he was searched by police at Mt Druitt train station on Friday. About 8.50am, police patrolling the train station asked the man to produce a ticket, when he allegedly admitted he didn’t have one. Police allege the man’s behaviour prompted them to search him. The man will face court later this month.
