An Ersk­ine Park man has been charged for al­legedly em­bez­zling more than $1 mil­lion from his for­mer em­ployer. In Au­gust, po­lice were con­tacted by a Mar­rickville-based busi­ness af­ter the com­pany’s di­rec­tor no­ticed a num­ber of in­con­sis­ten­cies in the busi­ness’ ac­counts. Mar­rickville po­lice be­gan an in­ves­ti­ga­tion and on Satur­day and ar­rested a 45-year-old Ersk­ine Park man at St Marys po­lice sta­tion. The man was charged with 41 sep­a­rate of­fences re­lat­ing to the al­leged em­bez­zle­ment of ap­prox­i­mately $1.12 mil­lion from the Mar­rickville-based com­pany. In court, po­lice will al­lege the man em­bez­zled the money over an eight-year pe­riod from 2007 through un­til ear­lier this year, when he left the com­pany. At the time of the al­leged of­fences, the man was per­form­ing cler­i­cal du­ties at the busi­ness. The man, who was granted con­di­tional bail, is set to ap­pear be­fore New­town Court on De­cem­ber 7.


MT DRUITT Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a fight in­volv­ing up to eight peo­ple at Daw­son Mall on Fri­day. About 10.30pm, a num­ber of men were fight­ing near the bus in­ter­change, when a 27-yearold man from Tregear was al­legedly kicked and punched a num­ber of times. As a re­sult po­lice were called. One of the men al­legedly in­volved in the in­ci­dent boarded a bus and left the area, which the po­lice stopped a short dis­tance away. A 50-year-old Bid­will man was ar­rested and charged. The al­leged vic­tim was taken to Ne­pean Hos­pi­tal where he re­ceived treat­ment for cuts and bruis­ing to his body and head. MT DRUITT A set of knuckle dusters and a flick knife were al­legedly found on a man when he was searched by po­lice at Mt Druitt train sta­tion on Fri­day. About 8.50am, po­lice pa­trolling the train sta­tion asked the man to pro­duce a ticket, when he al­legedly ad­mit­ted he didn’t have one. Po­lice al­lege the man’s be­hav­iour prompted them to search him. The man will face court later this month.
