PEN­RITH Coun­cil has wel­comed news the Western Sydney air­port will be “rail ready” when it opens in 2025.

The State and Fed­eral gov­ern­ments have an­nounced they would look at a new rail net­work for the west plus pri­or­ity growth and land release ar­eas.

A 12-month scop­ing study is set to ex­plore fund­ing op­tions and pre­ferred routes.

It is ex­pected that ma­jor hubs such as Camp­bell­town, Liver­pool and Pen­rith would be linked.

The Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment has con­firmed it wants the sec­ond air­port to be “rail ready” when it opens in 2025.
