JORG Gottschalk relishes the opportunity to get to the factory each day to catch up with colleagues and help distribute lollies all over the country.

Mr Gottschalk works for the Mt Druitt-based Endeavour Foundation as a leading hand on the factory floor.

The Endeavour Foundation is the largest employer of people with disability in the country, providing jobs in manufac- turing, food packing and recycling.

Despite his physical disability, Mr Gottschalk has worked with the company for decades and enjoys the independence of his job.

“I love coming in every day to help out our team,” he said.

The Plumpton resident is one of the many Mt Druitt and St Marys residents who will benefit from the Nation- al Disability Insurance Scheme.

The NDIS allows access to personalised support for people with disability, as well as providing assistance for their families and carers.

Endeavour Foundation chief executive David Barbagallo said the response to the scheme had been overwhelmingly positive.

“The NDIS gives people the economic power to make decisions about their support according to their own needs,” Mr Barbagallo said.

“They will be given choice and much more control over their lives.”

Almost 20,000 people across the country are now using the NDIS.

The scheme will begin to be rolled out across the Mt Druitt region from July 1 next year.
