Amazing city shows off its charms

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - #SNAPSYDNEY -

AS READERS can see in the surrounding SnapSydney pages, the pictures were a stunning testament to the natural beauty of our home and the spirit and diversity of its people.

Readers were keen to capture their favourite foods, cafes, pets, places and faces from every corner of the city with additional pictures taken by more than 100 reporters and photographers from land, sea and a helicopter in the air.

NewsLocal photographer John Appleyard spent two hours in a chopper, capturing a birds-eye view of the city which revealed some unusual angles of Sydney as well as strange beauty in what are otherwise drab collections of roads, rail tracks and buildings.

At Martin Place, people had the chance to get their photo taken with NewsLocal mascot Journo Jack and to see it displayed on a digital picture wall while enjoying a free lunch and entertainment.

SnapSydney was supported by major sponsor Brydens Lawyers as well as category sponsors the Mounties Group. Many participants also entered a competition to win Canon cameras.
