Our canine cover stars
OUR Christmas cover photo features six-year-old twins Nakita and Tarnia with adorable puppies Quineisha (the light one) and Quota.
When they’re not posing for photos, or catching a quick nap, the seven-weekold pups are being trained to become guide dogs for Guide Dogs NSW/ACT.
It costs more than $35,000 to breed, raise and train one guide dog which, like all services offered by Guide Dogs NSW/ACT, is provided for free to a person who is blind or vision-impaired.
The organisation gets less than 2 per cent of its funding from government sources. To help fund this vital service, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT has released its first charity gift-giving catalogue.
There are 16 gifts to choose from, starting from $7 and including dog bowls, puppy blankets and even vet checks.
Choose your gifts and Guide Dogs will send you a Precious Pup Pack with a card for each gift.
On Christmas Day, present your cards to friends and family so they can see the gift description and how it will help a puppy.
All gifts bought from the catalogue are tax deductible. For details and to order visit puppychristmas.com.au.
