VULNERABLE families will be given a helping hand this Christmas.

The goods and gifts will be distributed at MBM Anglican Church, Rooty Hill, on Saturday as part of Anglicare’s annual Christmas hamper program – Toys ‘n’ Tucker.

Mt Druitt Anglicare sustainable living program manager Janine Wall said 400 families would be treated to a toy hamper, morning tea and a barbecue this year.

“The demand is higher than usual this year but we do what we can with the budget we have,” Ms Wall said.

Anglicare Sydney chief executive Grant Millard said the support received for the initiative was incredible.

“Christmas can be a hard time when the stresses of mounting bills and debt weigh heavily on the famil- ies we support,” Mr Millard said. “We are grateful and encouraged by the care and generosity of so many people who have gone out of their way to practically help others.

“People who have struggled all year to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table will be able to share in the joy of Christmas.”
