Birthday bash time to splash

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - NEWS -

MT DRUITT pool is turning 40.

Blacktown Council will celebrate with a massive 40th birthday splash from 11am on Saturday.

With pool inflatables, jumping castles, market stalls, and even an Aqua Zumba class, the event will be jam-packed with entertainment for everyone.

Residents can also create history on the day by taking part in the Swim-a-thon challenge.

Community representatives and members of Rooty Hill RSL Swim Club will swim laps of the pool, aiming to reach 40km.

To help out, journalist Jillian McKee swum two laps of the 50m pool last week.

So far, 9.5km have been swum in the lead-up to the big day.

Blacktown Mayor Stephen Bali said: “Mt Druitt Swimming Centre has always been at the heart of the community, and 40 years is a fantastic achievement.

“I encourage the community to come along and celebrate this milestone with us.”
