RISING cricket star Gurinder Sandhu insists he is more than ready for his fourth season playing in the Big Bash League with Sydney Thunder tomorrow.

The 22-year-old has stepped up his training and played in a trial match at Howell Oval in Penrith on Saturday.

The fast bowler, who was raised in Minchinbury, helped secure the win for the Thunder Black side with figures of 2-28.

It has been a busy lead up to the season for Sandhu who played for NSW in the Sheffield Cup before returning to a Thunder training camp last week.

Sandhu said he had been training hard.

“I have been in Thunder camp for the past week. We don’t get much time leading into the Big Bash but training has been really good,” he said.

Sandhu said he hoped this season would be the most successful for the Thunder.

Sydney Thunder will go up against the Sydney Sixers at Spotless Stadium, Sydney Olympic Park on Thursday night.

“I always look forward to all the Big Bash games but especially look forward to the games against the Sixers,” he said.

“The year ahead looks very good but then again you never know until you start playing games … hopefully we start off on Thursday with a win.”
