Christmas cheer sweeps children’s ward
CARTER Rogers couldn’t wipe the smile off his face after discovering Christmas arrived early at Mt Druitt Hospital.
The five-year-old has spent the past few days in the hospital with tonsillitis, but got a big surprise on Friday, waking up to Christmas presents.
The staff at Erskine Park’s Stir Crazy have played Santa and his elves at the hospital for the past five years, giving out gifts to all the sick kids in December.
“We wanted to be able to donate something locally as the larger hospitals get so many donations, then I put it to the owner of Stir Crazy and we went ahead with it,” restaurant manager Deborah Smolen said.
Carter’s mother Rachel Rogers said the event made a difficult time a bit easier for them.
