– MIKEHAYDON to drive them. Black­town Coun­cil has also leased nine Mit­subishi petrol hy­brid­elec­tric ve­hi­cles for its fleet.

“One of the main con­cerns with elec­tric cars is peo­ple wor­ried about not hav­ing any­where to charge,” Mr Ban­nis­ter said. “By adding nine petrol hy­brid-elec­tric ve­hi­cles to the fleet, (it) shows coun­cil is com­mit­ted to re­new­able en­ergy and the en­vi­ron­ment.”

The poles in­clude elec­tric car charg­ing points, LED street light­ing and Wi-Fi, and po­ten­tially CCTV. The coun­cil has re­quested a fur­ther re­port into the is­sue.
