If Blacktown Council was serious about sustainable energy and the environment, they should look into locally sourced wind and solar energy options.

“One of the main concerns with electric cars is people worried about not having anywhere to charge,” Mr Bannister said. “By adding nine petrol hybrid-electric vehicles to the fleet, (it) shows council is committed to renewable energy and the environment.”
The poles include electric car charging points, LED street lighting and Wi-Fi, and potentially CCTV. The council has requested a further report into the issue.
