COLOURFUL mosaics paying tribute to the Anzacs have been unveiled in Dawson Mall.

Korean War veteran and Blacktown Councillor Charlie Lowles did the honours wearing the World War I ribbons of his late father.

“It was supposed to be the war that ended all wars, but then came World War II and conflicts continue – that’s why we don’t celebrate, we commemorate,” Cr Lowles said.

He said the works complemented the existing tile mosaics at Mt Druitt Swimming Centre, The Mt Druitt Hub, and Dawson Mall playground equipment.

“The artwork reflects the contemporary connection between Mt Druitt residents and the Anzac tradition,” Cr Lowles said.

Jan Cleveringa and Abbas Makrab designed the mosaics in consultation with Mt Druitt Historical Society, Mt Druitt Chamber of Commerce, Rooty Hill RSL Sub Branch and Colyton Public School.
