Celebrations in the city
SUMMER in Sydney full swing.
All thoughts are on Christmas but before you know it, we’ll be celebrating Australia Day on January 26.
Sydney Harbour is again a focus of festivities but there is plenty going on away from the water.
From 9am, some of the world’s finest wheelchair athletes will race around Alfred St in The Rocks for the 27th annual GIO Oz Day 10K Wheelchair Race.
The Rocks will also be busy with The Rocks Markets, of-
is in fering some of Australia’s best fashion, jewellery and art.
Along George St, enjoy the serenity of Sky Gaze, strike up some friendly rivalry at the croquet lawn and party down to Lolo Lovina’s Caravan, where Triple J’s Hottest 100 will count down.
In Hyde Park North, Sydney Festival’s Festival Village has delicious treats and funky tunes by Soul of Sydney from noon.
Darling Harbour has free entertainment from noon, including live music, dance, roving brass bands and Bollywood dancers.
The action culminates in a spectacular fireworks display at Cockle Bay, set to a soundtrack by Sneaky Sound System.
