Sdisplay Wanderer positive signs 2loss despite4-
THE Western Sydney Wanderers Youth League side came up short against Sydney FC after playing one of its best games of the season at Popondetta Park in Mt Druitt on Sunday.
On a 39C day, the Wanderers put up a great fight, with the final 4-2 score not reflective of the match.
It looked to be a tough game for the Red and Black side, miss- ing two shots at goal early on. Shortly after, Sydney FC scored once and then again in extra time during the first half.
The Wanderers had several shots at goal during the first half but were unable to score, with Sydney’s keeper coming to the rescue every time.
The second half of the match saw Sydney take a 3-0 lead.
The Wanderers’ Josh Macdon- ald hit back with a double, but a late goal by the Sky Blues ruled out the chance of an equaliser.
A Wanderers spokesman said despite the loss, the atmosphere at the park was great.
“The match was full of positive signs for the Red and Black and was a distinct improvement on their previous Sydney Derby this season,” he said.
