Beauty queen lends a hand to support family abuse victims
ROPES Crossing pageant queen Kim Cancellier is using her success to help victims of domestic violence.
The 30-year-old wife and mother, who recently secured a finalists place in the 2016 Australian Galaxy Pageant, is a former Global United titleholder, a Mrs Universe top-15 finalist and a Mrs Australia charity titleholder.
Mrs Cancellier began a pageant career after leaving an abusive relationship.
“I came out of an abusive relationship feeling worthless – then I was pretty much dared by a friend to enter a pageant,” she said.
“I had a decent amount of success and just kept going.”
After competing in the Mrs Universe competition in 2014, the beauty queen started the group “Queens without Scars” with a fellow contestant.
Mrs Cancellier said the group supported women experiencing domestic abuse.
“It is important women know they have someone they can speak with and they can share their stories and how they may overcome their situation,” she said.
