A man will face Mt Druitt Lo­cal Court to­mor­row af­ter a fe­male po­lice of­fi­cer was struck in the head by a glass bot­tle at Shalvey in the early hours of New Year’s Day. About 1.15am po­lice were pa­trolling Sid­well Pl when they no­ticed a large group of peo­ple stand­ing on the road. Of­fi­cers asked them to move, at which point one per­son al­legedly reached in­side the po­lice car be­fore run­ning into a nearby house. Po­lice said they were ver­bally abused as they went to the ad­dress and spoke to a group of men be­fore it is al­leged a man, 21, threw a glass bot­tle at po­lice, which struck a fe­male con­sta­ble in the head. The in­jured of­fi­cer was taken to Ne­pean Hos­pi­tal, where she re­ceived five stitches for a large cut to the fore­head. The man was taken to Mt Druitt po­lice sta­tion and charged with reck­less wound­ing, af­fray, and re­sist of­fi­cer in ex­e­cu­tion of duty.


EAST­ERN CREEK Two men were taken to West­mead Hos­pi­tal fol­low­ing a crash in­volv­ing two ve­hi­cles trav­el­ling in the same di­rec­tion on the M7 at East­ern Creek on Sun­day morn­ing. The crash oc­curred about 2.30am when a Toy­ota Landcruiser hit the back of a sta­tion­ary black Mercedes. The driver of the Mercedes, a Con­dell Park man, 27, and his front-seat pas­sen­ger, a Revesby man, 21, were taken to hos­pi­tal with sus­pected frac­tures. The driver of the Toy­ota, a Milperra man, 26, also was taken to West­mead Hos­pi­tal as a pre­cau­tion. Po­lice be­lieve an­other dark-coloured ve­hi­cle may have stopped be­side the Mercedes be­fore the im­pact. Mt Druitt po­lice are keen to speak with any­one with in­for­ma­tion.


EMERTON A man, 29, was re­fused bail af­ter he al­legedly robbed a con­ve­nience store armed with a pierc­ing gun. He also faces charges re­lat­ing to the break­ing into of a unit and crash­ing a stolen car at Emerton. Just be­fore 5.30am on Jan­uary 2, a man walked into a Po­pon­detta Rd store al­legedly armed with a pierc­ing gun where he threat­ened an em­ployee be­fore flee­ing with a num­ber of items. A short time later, po­lice were called to nearby Bunting St where a man was be­ing held by res­i­dents. It’s al­leged the man broke into a unit and stole a ve­hi­cle be­fore crash­ing it into three ve­hi­cles. The man was ar­rested and taken to Mt Druitt Hos­pi­tal for blood and urine test­ing. He was charged with rob­bery while armed with of­fen­sive weapon; ag­gra­vated break and en­ter and com­mit se­ri­ous in­dictable of­fence; un­li­censed driver; and not re­verse ve­hi­cle safely. He will face Pen­rith Lo­cal Court on March 4.


ROOTY HILL A man will face Mt Druitt Lo­cal Court at a date to be set af­ter he al­legedly robbed a liquor store at Mt Druitt on De­cem­ber 28. Po­lice al­lege a man en­tered a Rooty Hill Rd North store about 4pm armed with a knife. He al­legedly threat­ened an em­ployee and de­manded cash. When the em­ployee fled the armed man at­tempted to open the cash reg­is­ter but couldn’t. He then al­legedly stole two bot­tles of al­co­hol, and a bot­tle of soft drink. About 5.15pm of­fi­cers ar­rested a man, 33, on the M7 bike path at Dean Park. He was charged with rob­bery with an of­fen­sive weapon.
