AS TEM­PER­A­TURES soar this sum­mer, vol­un­teer fire­fight­ers are needed more than ever.

Res­i­dents are be­ing urged to dig deep at a spe­cial fundraiser to sup­port the Ru­ral Fire Ser­vice on Satur­day, Jan­uary 23.

Bun­nings at Minch­in­bury will be rais­ing funds for the RFS through its an­nual Aussie Day week­end fundraiser bar­be­cue.

Mt Druitt and St Marys res­i­dents are in­vited to cel­e­brate Aus­tralia Day and sup­port the RFS by head­ing to Bun­nings be­tween 9am and 4pm, to buy a snag or make a do­na­tion. Team mem­bers will be run­ning sausage siz­zles with sup­port from vol­un­teers.

NSW RFS Com­mis­sioner Shane Fitzsim­mons thanked the com­mu­nity for its sup­port. “Ev­ery day our 74,000 mem­bers are work­ing to help pro­tect the com­mu­nity from bush­fires, and this Aus­tralia Day will be no dif­fer­ent,” Mr Fitzsim­mons said.

Bun­nings Ware­house Minch­in­bury is on the cor­ner of John Hines Ave and Great Western High­way.
