Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - NEWS -

MT DRUITT PCYC has received more than just a spruce-up since embracing the work-for-the-dole program run by Sarina Russo Job Access.

The initiative aims to break the welfare cycle by giving unemployed people the chance to maintain and learn skills that will help them find meaningful jobs.

It also allows participants to fill volunteer shortages.

For Nicholas Woodfield, 22, being placed at the Shalvey hub to do repairs and landscaping has led to fulltime work as a supervisor.

“The most rewarding part for me has been being able to help others,” Mr Woodfield said.

Mt Druitt PCYC manager Lance Chaloner said he was impressed with Mr Woodfield from day one.

“His work ethic is second to none. He has worked hard and put in the time and effort and it has paid off,” he said.

Nicholas Woodfield completed a work-for-the-dole program at PCYC Mt Druitt and did so well that he was employed fulltime as a supervisor.
