Canberra Cavalry cut down Blue Sox hopes
SYDNEY Blue Sox have missed out on a place in the Australian Baseball League postseason playoffs after going down to second-placed Canberra Elite Cavalry.
The Rooty Hill-based side was no match for the team from the nation’s capital, losing all three games in the series.
After bad weather postponed the first match, Sydney were unable to get their rhythm together and were defeated 3-2 on Friday.
Saturday saw the Blue Sox win the first half of a double- header with 18-year-old Lachlan Wells setting up a challenge with two runs early on.
However, Canberra fought back to win 7-2.
In the final game in the series Canberra finished strongly, defeating the Blue Sox 5-0 and securing their place in the finals alongside the Brisbane Bandits.
Sydney will play the Melbourne Aces in their final game of the regular season at Blacktown International Sportspark, Eastern Rd, Rooty Hill, this weekend.
