3SHALVEY

A Shalvey youth will face court next month charged with ma­li­cious dam­age. About 6.30am on Jan­uary 16 a boy, 16, al­legedly threw rocks at a Wer­ring­ton ser­vice sta­tion win­dow, caus­ing it to break. It is al­leged he had been con­sum­ing liquor in a park the pre­vi­ous evening and was then with a friend try­ing to buy cig­a­rettes, but was re­fused. Both boys were out­side and the at­ten­dant locked the doors, be­fore the 16-year-old threw the rocks. Po­lice ar­rived and ar­rested the boy. He will face Pen­rith Court on Fe­bru­ary 15.

4ST

A man has been charged af­ter he was al­legedly caught street rac­ing at St Marys. About 3.20pm on Jan­uary 16, a 42-year-old Bowen Moun­tain man was driv­ing a car on For­rester Rd, St Marys. Po­lice al­legedly saw the man trav­el­ling di­rectly be­side an­other ve­hi­cle in ex­cess of 150km/h in the 60km/h zone. Both ve­hi­cles were fol­lowed for a short dis­tance and po­lice were able to stop the 42-yearold. He was charged with street rac­ing, driv­ing reck­lessly, and ex­ceed­ing the speed limit by more than 45km/h. His driver’s li­cence was sus­pended on the spot. He will ap­pear in Pen­rith Court on Fe­bru­ary 18.

ST MARYS Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a car fire at North St Marys on Satur­day morn­ing. About 6.10am a 55year-old man heard a sound in Debrin­cat Ave and dis­cov­ered his ve­hi­cle on fire. He at­tempted to ex­tin­guish the fire, while his neigh­bours called the fire brigade. It is un­known if the car was de­lib­er­ately lit. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion in re­la­tion to this in­ci­dent is urged to con­tact po­lice.

6MINCHINBURY

A man was punched in the face in a road rage in­ci­dent at Minch­in­bury on Satur­day. About 1.15pm the man, 30, was trav­el­ling along the Great Western High­way when a traf­fic in­ci­dent oc­curred and he was cut off by a black Honda. He con­tin­ued on be­fore pulling into a carpark at a fruit mar­ket, with the Honda pulling in be­hind and block­ing him in. A man got out and al­legedly started an al­ter­ca­tion, re­sult­ing in the first man be­ing punched in the face. On­look­ers in­ter­vened and pre­vented any fur­ther in­ci­dent. The man is de­scribed as be­ing Is­lan­der or Filipino in ap­pear­ance, 165cm tall, with a slight ac­cent and wear­ing sun­glasses, a T-shirt and shorts.
