A Shalvey youth will face court next month charged with malicious damage. About 6.30am on January 16 a boy, 16, allegedly threw rocks at a Werrington service station window, causing it to break. It is alleged he had been consuming liquor in a park the previous evening and was then with a friend trying to buy cigarettes, but was refused. Both boys were outside and the attendant locked the doors, before the 16-year-old threw the rocks. Police arrived and arrested the boy. He will face Penrith Court on February 15.
A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught street racing at St Marys. About 3.20pm on January 16, a 42-year-old Bowen Mountain man was driving a car on Forrester Rd, St Marys. Police allegedly saw the man travelling directly beside another vehicle in excess of 150km/h in the 60km/h zone. Both vehicles were followed for a short distance and police were able to stop the 42-yearold. He was charged with street racing, driving recklessly, and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h. His driver’s licence was suspended on the spot. He will appear in Penrith Court on February 18.
ST MARYS Police are investigating a car fire at North St Marys on Saturday morning. About 6.10am a 55year-old man heard a sound in Debrincat Ave and discovered his vehicle on fire. He attempted to extinguish the fire, while his neighbours called the fire brigade. It is unknown if the car was deliberately lit. Anyone with information in relation to this incident is urged to contact police.
A man was punched in the face in a road rage incident at Minchinbury on Saturday. About 1.15pm the man, 30, was travelling along the Great Western Highway when a traffic incident occurred and he was cut off by a black Honda. He continued on before pulling into a carpark at a fruit market, with the Honda pulling in behind and blocking him in. A man got out and allegedly started an altercation, resulting in the first man being punched in the face. Onlookers intervened and prevented any further incident. The man is described as being Islander or Filipino in appearance, 165cm tall, with a slight accent and wearing sunglasses, a T-shirt and shorts.
