Two men were charged after police allegedly discovered drugs and cash at homes in Plumpton. About 5pm on Thursday, police, the Dog Unit and Public Order Riot Squad executed a search warrant at homes on Myra St and Sanctuary Park Drive, and during both searches allegedly found cannabis plants, cannabis leaf, cash, cocaine, and memorabilia items believed to be the proceeds of crime, estimated to be worth more than $100,000.
SHANES PARK Two men escaped uninjured after they crashed their car into a creek at Shanes Park after a high-speed police chase on Friday. Just after 12.30am, police attempted to stop a Holden Commodore travelling north along Luxford Rd, in Whalan. The Commodore allegedly failed to stop and police chased it through Lethbridge Park and Shanes Park. The Holden then crashed into a creek off Stoney Creek Rd. The uninjured 23-year-old male driver and his 28-year-old male passenger were helped out of the vehicle. Both men were arrested at the scene and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station. The younger man was charged with police pursuit (Skye’s law) and exceeding speed over 45km/h. The 28year-old was charged with breaching bail and appeared at Mt Druitt Local Court on Friday.
MT DRUITT Two men are on the run after an armed robbery of a bakery in Mt Druitt yesterday. About 3am, the men entered a Mt Druitt Rd bakery armed with a firearm and knife. They approached the two bakers and demanded money before leaving the store. One of the men was described as being caucasian, about 160cm tall, with a skinny build, and wearing a blue jacket, black shorts and a black cloth around his head. The other was described as being Aboriginal, about 150cm tall, with a skinny build and black beard, and wearing a black jacket and black pants.
MT DRUITT A handbag was stolen from a store in Mt Druitt on Friday. About 3.50pm, an employee, 25, was working in a clothing store when an unknown person entered and removed the woman’s handbag from behind the service counter.
MT DRUITT Police are investigating an attempted robbery of a car at Mt Druitt on Sunday. About 7.25am, a female coffee shop employee, 20, parked her vehicle within the Westfield carpark and waited for her manager to open the store. She saw a man approaching her car and activated the central locking system. The man demanded money as he attempted to open the doors. A cleaner witnessed the incident and contacted security as the man ran from the area. The man was described as Aboriginal, in his late 30s to early 40s, and wearing a dark-coloured hooded jumper.
WHALAN A male, 17, will face court after being caught driving while disqualified in Whalan. About 10.55pm on Sunday, the teenager was driving his vehicle down Woodstock Ave, when he was stopped by police and subjected to a random breath test, which returned a negative result. Police conducted checks at the scene, where it was found the teen’s driver’s licence was in a period of disqualification until 2020.
ST MARYS Police are urging witnesses to come forward after a mailbox was set alight in St Marys. Between 7pm on Friday and 6.45pm on Sunday, unknown offenders have used an accelerant to set alight the mail in the mailbox on Monfarville St. The mail inside and the box were destroyed.
