Labor responsibility to restore hospital

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - FEEDBACK -

IN RESPONSE to “Queen has ‘responsibility’ ” ( The Standard, January 20), Bill Armstrong would well remember that it was a fairdinkum Labor government which, under Neville Wran as premier, brought Mt Druitt Hospital to the area in 1982. It was also a Labor government under Carr and Iemma which ripped emergency surgery from Mt Druitt Hospital.

Any new Labor government has a “responsibility” to return that and more to the hospital, eg a mental health unit.

Maybe Bill should approach Labor state leader Luke Foley requesting a pledge to fully restore Mt Druitt Hospital if elected.

Knowing Mr Foley’s plan to sell off social housing as part of a rightwing agenda, I don’t like Bill’s chances of success.
