ST CLAIR’S Paige Hadley and the rest of the Australian Diamonds have returned home as champions after defeating the England Roses in London last week.

The team secured a 3-0 series win over the English side, cementing its world No.1 status.

Hadley said the team was determined to claim victory.

“After losing three years ago, we were definitely chasing the win,” Hadley said.

“I was really happy with how I played. In the Australian games, you just need to take the opportunities as they come.

“I finished off the third game with a full game, so I was really happy with that.”

Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander said getting experience for young players, such as Hadley, was a key focus during the series.

With training for the NSW Swifts starting this week, Hadley said she was looking forward to getting back into the red and blue.

“I’ll have the next few days off, and then get back into it – there is no rest for the wicked,” Hadley said.

The Swifts will play their first game of the season against the Melbourne Vixens at Sydney Olympic Park on Sunday, April 3.
