Baker hit in head during robbery
A BAKER was bashed in the head during an armed robbery of a bakery at Colyton early yesterday morning.
The baker was working in his store in Hewitt St about 1.50am when he was disturbed by two men at the rear door.
Armed with a firearm and a knife, they forced their way into the premises and threatened the baker while demanding money from the till.
The men stole a small amount of cash out of the register and while running out the back door, they hit the baker over the head with a blunt object.
Emergency services were called to the location and the baker was treated at the scene for a cut to his head.
A crime scene has been established while further in- vestigations are carried out by detectives from St Marys Local Area Command.
The robbery comes two weeks after another Mt Druitt bakery was robbed by two men armed with a gun and knife.
A man, 38, of Wilberforce, was later arrested and charged in relation to the robbery on February 2.
