Baker hit in head dur­ing rob­bery

A BAKER was bashed in the head dur­ing an armed rob­bery of a bak­ery at Coly­ton early yes­ter­day morn­ing.

The baker was work­ing in his store in Hewitt St about 1.50am when he was dis­turbed by two men at the rear door.

Armed with a firearm and a knife, they forced their way into the premises and threat­ened the baker while de­mand­ing money from the till.

The men stole a small amount of cash out of the reg­is­ter and while run­ning out the back door, they hit the baker over the head with a blunt ob­ject.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to the lo­ca­tion and the baker was treated at the scene for a cut to his head.

A crime scene has been es­tab­lished while fur­ther in- ves­ti­ga­tions are car­ried out by de­tec­tives from St Marys Lo­cal Area Com­mand.

The rob­bery comes two weeks af­ter an­other Mt Druitt bak­ery was robbed by two men armed with a gun and knife.

A man, 38, of Wil­ber­force, was later ar­rested and charged in re­la­tion to the rob­bery on Fe­bru­ary 2.
