CASE STUDY

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - TRADE + SERVICES -

Nicole Goodwin, 22, of Newington, is doing a graduate program at event company Arinex Why did you study the course and what did you like about it? I was always interested in events. I completed a Bachelor Degree in teaching but felt it wasn’t for me so decided to gain a qualification in events by doing the Diploma of Events at Sydney TAFE. I liked the practical components and found I could put all the theory from the classroom into practice through volunteering opportunities, especially the opportunity to put our own event on from start to finish.

What are your plans for the future? I am excited to do the graduate program at Arinex. I’ll be working and receiving training and practical experience across all areas including conferences and exhibitions, sponsorship, accommodation and marketing … in the distant future I might teach event management. What advice do you have for others who wish to get into the industry? Do as much volunteering as possible, including an internship if you can. Get the experience while studying. Employers are looking for people with experience in all areas of event management.
