Litterbugs face fines
A TWO-MONTH litter blitz across the area has resulted in a swag of fines and warnings for people caught throwing litter.
Forty-one littering fines were issues across the Blacktown local government area, and dozens of people were given verbal warnings.
The blitz focused heavily on littering from vehicles, in the Blacktown and Mt Druitt central business districts and at railway stations.
Cigarette butts were the most commonly littered item and the most fines were issued for this offence.
Enforcement officers will continue to lookout for litterers and issue fines.
