THERE are more job opportunities in the Penrith region than people realise, WISE Employment’s account manager Fay Clark said.

“If you have a trade, you have a job,” she said. “I’ve never seen such high levels of apprenticeships.”

She said people with truck licences could be placed almost immediately, but it remained difficult to gain local employment in IT, high-level administration and middle management.

“We’re seeing a swing to employers (hiring) mature workers,” Ms Clark said.

WISE will hold its first Penrith careers expo at the Joan Sutherland Centre on May 18, from 10am-1pm, when 25 major employers including McDonalds, Coles and Lend Lease will look to hire 100 people from Blacktown to Emu Plains.
