Woman, 54, injured in 100-strong brawl
A WOMAN was injured and four people arrested following a major brawl at Mt Druitt train station last week.
About 100 people were involved in the fight shortly before 7.30pm on Thursday, which is understood to have been prearranged.
The woman, 54, was taken to Mt Druitt Hospital with minor head and neck injuries.
Police dispersed the crowd and found several items, including a molotov cocktail, a knife and a golf club.
Two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested at the scene.
The 18-year-old, who allegedly had a baseball bat, was issued with a field court attendance notice for possessing an offensive weapon.
The 19-year-old was charged with affray, common assault, using offensive language in a public place and behaving in offensive manner in public place.
A third man, 18, was arrested on Monday and charged with rioting and two counts of custody of an offensive implement in a public place.
Yesterday an 18-year-old from Plumpton was charged with riot, armed with intent and send explosive with intent to burn.
Mt Druitt crime manager Detective Inspector Dave Goddard said many Islander community members were involved in the brawl and police would be reviewing CCTV footage to identify further suspects.
“The group mentality is not on. If you’ve got a problem with someone, sort it out with other means.
“To the Islander community, the elders in particular and community leaders, please send a message to your children that police will be taking firm action and we won’t go away.”
Mt Druitt detectives urged anyone with further information to come forward.
