People who come and stay have said they see a little girl around the house Sir Trevor Garland

THE owner of The Oaks homestead, at Plumpton, is considering calling in the ghostbusters again as paranormal activity is at an alltime high at the historic property.

Sir Trevor Garland, the former Solomon Islands honorary consul-general in Sydney, is a confessed sceptic, but says the activity is worrisome.

The Western Sydney Paranormal Research (WSPR) first visited The Oaks in 2012, and Sir Trevor said he would like to have the team back to investigate again.

“I have been hearing footsteps around the house again recently – it would be good to have the team out to investigate again,” he said.

“I hear footsteps every now and then and when I go to look there is nothing there. People who come and stay have said they see a little girl around the house.

“There was a little girl who originally lived in the home and her grave is on the grounds.”

The Hyatts Rd property originally covered more than 14.5ha and is believed to have been built by hardware business owner William Golding in 1895.

Sir Trevor bought the property almost 14 years ago after he moved from inner Sydney.

WSPR initially investigated the property in 2012 and came to some chilling con- clusions. A WSPR spokeswoman said the property had its fair share of paranormal reportings over the years.

“Everything from fullbody apparitions, audible phenomena voices and names being called, as well as physical phenomena,” she said.

“Many people, including the witnesses that we interviewed, have reported seeing the apparition of a young girl. Witnesses have also reported seeing the figure of an elderly lady looking out from the second-storey windows of the house.”

One of the rooms on the lower floor of the property is said to be particularly “haunted”.

“Many witnesses have also reported a sense of fear and anxiety in a couple of the rooms, however, one room in particular, located on the lower floor of the house ...,” the spokeswoman said.

“Many, many people have reported the same sense of loss of balance within this room. In statements, witnesses report the sense of ‘being on a rocking boat’ in this room.”
