Appeal for help investigating death
POLICE Strike Force Thistleton has not yet made an arrest in its hunt to find a gunman who killed a man in Colyton last week.
The victim, father of one Adrian Buxton, 31, died at the scene in Coral Pea Court.
Detectives are investigating the theory that he was executed but, at a press con- ference at St Marys on Friday, they would not confirm whether the man was part of a bikie gang.
Despite speculation Mr Buxton was previously involved in the Nomads bikie gang, State Crime Command said the victim had distanced himself from it and initial inquiries indicated no link between his association and the killing.
Police now hope CCTV footage at Mr Buxton’s house will provide some clues about the shooting.
They have obtained the CCTV footage from the house and will review it, according to State Crime Command.
Superintendent Greg Peters, of St Marys local area command, said the dead man’s wife and two children were at home at the time of the shooting.
“As far as I’ve been told, he was taking out his rubbish to the garbage bin because it was garbage night,’’ Superintendent Peters said.
The victim was shot on a grassy strip at the front of the house. Police did not say how many times the man was shot although one neighbour said she heard four or five gunshots.
Police are appealing for witnesses or those with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
