EVERY day is DoSomething Day for the volunteers at Foodbank Glendenning.

The volunteers (pictured left) get up early each morning to help pack and send hundreds of thousands of food supplies across the country.

Foodbank donated more than 60 million meals to needy families last year.

Foodbank NSW & ACT spokesman Tony Gatt said much of the food was distributed in the Blacktown area.

“In 2015 we supplied the equivalent of approximately 400,000 meals (in Blacktown),” Mr Gatt said.

“Our meals comprise of a range of essential, nutritious, grocery items such as rice, pasta, pasta sauce, baked beans, fruit, vegetables, milk, bread, meat and chicken.”

Foodbank relies heavily on volunteers and donations.
