MOUNT Druitt Town Rangers snapped a three-match losing sequence with a hardfought 3-2 victory over Northern Tigers in Football NSW’s NPL 2 competition.

Goals to Abraham Majok, Kuag Reec and Goncalo Paradanta got Rangers over the line with Liam McConaghy and Braden Cheng responding for Northern Tigers.

The narrow win at Popondetta Park, Emerton, was desperately needed to keep the Rangers in touch with the leaders in the race to the finals.

It lifted them from ninth to seventh position in the 14team competition, just one point behind Northern Tigers, three behind Mounties and six adrift of Marconi as Western Sydney Wanderers continue to lead the way.

It ended a disappointing streak of three losses after consecutive wins against the A-League academy sides.

More worrying was the lack of goals. For the first time this season Mt Druitt Town had remained scoreless in two games on the trot.

To get back on track was the priority, and Rangers completed their mission in style by finding the back of the net three times.

Their big test comes this Saturday at 7pm when they take on third-placed Bankstown City away from home at Jensen Park.

Meanwhile, Rooty Hillbased Western Sydney Wan- derers have dominated Young Socceroos selection with six players picked for the national team’s upcoming Central Coast training camp – Mario Shabow, Lachlan Scott, Keanu Baccus, Cameron Devlin, Jackson Bandiera and Lachlan Roberts. The squad is preparing for Asean and Asian under-19 championships in Hanoi in September and Bahrain in October.
