COLLECTORS SHARE TOYS’ SIMPLE JOY
Race billycarts and fly kites with the family at Rouse Hill House and Farm’s Toy Festival. The festival, which returns for another year, features some of Sydney’s most avid toy collectors, including the Meccano Modellers Association, Doll Collectors Club of NSW and Australian Pedal Car Club. For those looking to get into the hobby toy-collecting world, there will be a chance to speak with seasoned collectors who will have pedal cars from the Depression era on display along with toy restoration experts. Festival-goers can also take a tour of Rouse Hill House, with its long history dating back to the early 1800s. If walking isn’t for you, the festival will include mini-train rides around the farm for $4 with proceeds going towards North Western Model Engineers. The two-day event will include hands-on toy-making workshops, live music and storytelling by Ursula Dubosarsky, author of Too Many Elephants in this House.
Saturday, July 23, 10.30am-3.30pm and Sunday, July 24, 10.30am-3.30pm. Entry via gold coin donation. sydneylivingmuseums.com.au
