Fish­ing fans get hooked on event

THE chance to grab some bait and a line to catch trout in Mt Druitt is fast ap­proach­ing.

The Fish In is now a pop­u­lar an­nual event Black­town Coun­cil ar­ranges to drop fish into Mt Druitt Pool over two week­ends in win­ter.

Res­i­dents are able to sign up to get a ticket for a rare chance to fish in a per­fect catch­ing en­vi­ron­ment. This year the fish­ing week­ends are Au­gust 5-6 and 12-13.

If you are a be­gin­ner fish­ing en­thu­si­ast or have kids who would love to catch a fish this is a must ev­ery year.

Mt Druitt Pool will be di­vided into 45 fish­ing sta­tions and en­trants will be al­lowed to bring one fish­ing line for each sta­tion.

Rods, hooks and baits are fine, but no sinkers or weights are al­lowed.

En­trants are al­lowed to catch six fish per per­son each day – coun­cil staff will be count­ing to make sure no one catches too many or starts drag­ging them in with nets.

Ev­ery year the sides of Mt Druitt Pool are packed with the sounds of laugh­ter and de­light at catch­ing a crea­ture of the deep.
