Fishing fans get hooked on event
THE chance to grab some bait and a line to catch trout in Mt Druitt is fast approaching.
The Fish In is now a popular annual event Blacktown Council arranges to drop fish into Mt Druitt Pool over two weekends in winter.
Residents are able to sign up to get a ticket for a rare chance to fish in a perfect catching environment. This year the fishing weekends are August 5-6 and 12-13.
If you are a beginner fishing enthusiast or have kids who would love to catch a fish this is a must every year.
Mt Druitt Pool will be divided into 45 fishing stations and entrants will be allowed to bring one fishing line for each station.
Rods, hooks and baits are fine, but no sinkers or weights are allowed.
Entrants are allowed to catch six fish per person each day – council staff will be counting to make sure no one catches too many or starts dragging them in with nets.
Every year the sides of Mt Druitt Pool are packed with the sounds of laughter and delight at catching a creature of the deep.
