THE cost of vegetables is still a bit high because of the wet and cold weather a few weeks ago. But people should see prices start to ease up in the next week or so.
However, we don’t yet know what the effect will be on the supply from South Australia because of recent flooding and rain.
For most fruit and vegetables, availability and price is dependent on weather conditions.
Bananas remain a staple for many families as snacks and continue to be a good buy. The bananas we get here have come down from North Queensland.
The fruit may be green when its picked but this does not impact on the quality of what you’re putting in your mouth.
While some people like to buy bananas ready to eat straight away, I prefer to get them green and let them ripen in a bowl on the kitchen bench.
