All-female law firm draws on diverse background, experience
IN A profession dominated by males, solicitors Beverly Boyle, Anjli Chowdhary and assistant Sandra Wade have more than 70 years of legal experience between them.
Owner of Mt Druitt’s newest and only all-female law firm, Western Sydney Legal, Ms Chowdhary said the allfemale makeup wasn’t planned but worked perfectly.
“It’s the way it happened with our staff, but we are very happy with how it’s turned out,” she said.
“It is a very male-dominated profession, especially out in western Sydney, and in the older age group it’s unusual.
“We provide a very nonthreatening environment — we have experience and children and marriage splits between us all ... so we are very hands-on.”
Western Sydney Legal offers a “mixed bag” of legal services, from family law to wills to immigration law.
Mrs Chowdhary bought the practice recently after a 20-year hiatus from the workforce.
She said the Mt Druitt community had welcomed
... we have experience and children and marriage splits between us all ... we are very hands-on Anjli Chowdhary
her with open arms.
“I love the community — it is what is great about the job,” Mrs Chowdhary said.
“I was working in a big law firm in the city and it was impersonal — working here it is more rewarding, as you are really making a difference in people’s lives.”
