1 COLYTON Two men have been charged af­ter a hy­dro­ponic set-up was dis­cov­ered in Dal­ton St. About 2pm last Tues­day, Au­gust 16, North West Met­ro­pol­i­tan En­force­ment Squad of­fi­cers searched the house and al­legedly found cannabis plants and six rooms con­verted into a hy­dro­ponic set-up. Po­lice seized 134 plants with a street value of $400,000 and hy­dro­ponic equip­ment. Two men, aged 33 and 31, were ar­rested at the scene and charged with cul­ti­vate pro­hib­ited plant com­mer­cial pur­pose, and use elec­tric­ity with­out author­ity.

2 ST MARYS A fire started in a card­board re­cy­cling fac­tory in Kom­mer Place about noon on Satur­day. A worker no­ticed a fire com­ing from the main ware­house area. He at­tempted to ex­tin­guish the fire and con­tacted the fire brigade. He sus­tained mi­nor burns. The cause of the fire is un­known.

3 ST MARYS Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a Mt Druitt man was robbed in St Marys about 2pm on Mon­day, Au­gust 15. The man, 40, said he was walk­ing in West Lane carpark when he was ap­proached by another man who called to him. When he turned around the man grabbed his back­pack and ran off with it. The of­fender is de­scribed as be­ing in his 40s, of Pa­cific Is­lan­der ap­pear­ance and about 180cm tall. He was wear­ing a grey hooded jumper and black track­pants. Po­lice are re­view­ing CCTV footage.

4 MT DRUITT Po­lice have ar­rested a Mt Druitt man af­ter a foot pur­suit with po­lice. About 4.50pm on Tues­day, Au­gust 16, po­lice stopped a ve­hi­cle in Zoe Place, Mt Druitt. Checks found the car to be un­reg­is­tered. The driver al­legedly ran from po­lice be­fore he was stopped out­side Mt Druitt Pool. He will face court at a later date.

5 DHARRUK Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the at­tempted theft of a ve­hi­cle in Stu­art Rd on Tues­day, Au­gust 16. About 4am a neigh­bour heard a noise and saw an un­known per­son run­ning from the area. The ve­hi­cle owner found some­one had tried break into to his ve­hi­cle with a screw­driver or sim­i­lar tool. Any in­for­ma­tion to Crime Stop­pers: 1800 333 000.

6 NORTH ST MARYS A nine-month-old baby girl has died af­ter be­ing found sub­merged in a bath at a home in West­ern Syd­ney on Fri­day, Au­gust 12. Paramedics were called to a Birch St house shortly af­ter 10am where they per­formed CPR on the girl. She was then taken by am­bu­lance to Ne­pean Hos­pi­tal and trans­ferred to the Chil­dren’s Hos­pi­tal at West­mead where she later died.
