1 COLYTON Two men have been charged after a hydroponic set-up was discovered in Dalton St. About 2pm last Tuesday, August 16, North West Metropolitan Enforcement Squad officers searched the house and allegedly found cannabis plants and six rooms converted into a hydroponic set-up. Police seized 134 plants with a street value of $400,000 and hydroponic equipment. Two men, aged 33 and 31, were arrested at the scene and charged with cultivate prohibited plant commercial purpose, and use electricity without authority.
2 ST MARYS A fire started in a cardboard recycling factory in Kommer Place about noon on Saturday. A worker noticed a fire coming from the main warehouse area. He attempted to extinguish the fire and contacted the fire brigade. He sustained minor burns. The cause of the fire is unknown.
3 ST MARYS Police are investigating after a Mt Druitt man was robbed in St Marys about 2pm on Monday, August 15. The man, 40, said he was walking in West Lane carpark when he was approached by another man who called to him. When he turned around the man grabbed his backpack and ran off with it. The offender is described as being in his 40s, of Pacific Islander appearance and about 180cm tall. He was wearing a grey hooded jumper and black trackpants. Police are reviewing CCTV footage.
4 MT DRUITT Police have arrested a Mt Druitt man after a foot pursuit with police. About 4.50pm on Tuesday, August 16, police stopped a vehicle in Zoe Place, Mt Druitt. Checks found the car to be unregistered. The driver allegedly ran from police before he was stopped outside Mt Druitt Pool. He will face court at a later date.
5 DHARRUK Police are investigating the attempted theft of a vehicle in Stuart Rd on Tuesday, August 16. About 4am a neighbour heard a noise and saw an unknown person running from the area. The vehicle owner found someone had tried break into to his vehicle with a screwdriver or similar tool. Any information to Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000.
6 NORTH ST MARYS A nine-month-old baby girl has died after being found submerged in a bath at a home in Western Sydney on Friday, August 12. Paramedics were called to a Birch St house shortly after 10am where they performed CPR on the girl. She was then taken by ambulance to Nepean Hospital and transferred to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead where she later died.
