Government can pay for funerals

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - YOUR SAY -

YOU can have a funeral paid for by the government as my friend did when her son died suddenly (“Mum’s plea for help to bring Stephanie home”, The Standard, August 17).

As long as the deceased person had no savings, superannuation or life insurance you are entitled to claim.

My friend had to go to the local police station and fill in some form. The funeral was granted and people were allowed to attend.

And she got his ashes to keep as well. Karen Knight, via Facebook
