Run to the Rose to tell Golden tale

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - SPORT - Ray Thomas

THE odds are shortening that the Golden Rose winner will be seen in action at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

The running of the Group 2 $175,000 Run to the Rose (1200m) is going to be a significant form reference for the coming spring carnival.

Star Turn, a brilliant winner of the San Domenico Stakes earlier this month, is expected to take on the likes of Mediterranean, El Divino, Good Standing and Godolphin duo Impending and Telperion in the Run to the Rose.

This will be their final lead-up run before the first Sydney Group 1 race of the new season, the $1 million Golden Rose (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 10.

IMPENDING SUCCESS

MY TIP for this weekend is to follow Impending in the Run to the Rose.

He may lack the race fitness of Star Turn but if Impending runs a competitive race then he will be the one to beat when he gets out to 1400m for the Golden Rose.
