Raise waste complaints
Register now to speak at community meeting to discuss waste management facility
A COMMUNITY meeting to discuss the proposed waste management and transfer facility at Erskine Park, organised by the Planning Assessment Commission, is scheduled for this month.
The meeting will be at 2.30pm at St Marys Leagues Club on Wednesday, September 21.
The proposed facility has presented a number of issues and raised plenty of concerns for the surrounding residents and business owners.
The issues include increased traffic and general odour emissions, which would likely become a part of life for nearby homeowners.
Although the proposed development is in its final stages, a commission spokeswoman said if the commission concluded that the concerns about the facility were not properly handled, the commission could still stop the project.
“The meeting is called so that the community can have the opportunity to convey their concerns at the time,” the spokeswoman said.
“We need to ensure that everything has been addressed.”
The spokeswoman said the awkward timing of the meeting – 2.30pm on a Wed- nesday when people were either working or picking up children from school – was due to the difficulty of finding of a suitable and available venue.
If you would like to speak at the meeting, you will need to lodge a registration by 1pm on Monday, September 19.
You will need to call Philippa Vale on 9383 2115 to register.
