EVER wondered what goes on in the minds of some of our most famous comedians?

You will have the chance to find out when Arj Barker brings his Get In My Head show to Rooty Hill RSL later this month.

“Each show is different; I start with a block of material and, as time goes on, I tweak it,” Barker said of his latest offering.

“I’ve had a lot of people say this is my best show, so I’m pretty happy with that

“All I do (to prepare) is try and think of things that seem funny to me.

“Sometimes it’s just brutally honest.”

Barker couldn’t put his finger on exactly what it was that attracted various generations to his shows.

“I don’t do anything specifically to appeal to a wide age range but I have noticed that at my shows,” he said.

“I do try to have a universal appeal in my material – I don’t try to exclude any particular group.”

Barker likes to be kept busy and is already working on some music and jokes for a new show.

He says the affinity he has with Australians “means a lot” to him, with the American comic describing Australia as his second home.

“I’ve made some good friends here …,” he said.

Arj Barker is bringing his Get in My

Head show to Rooty Hill RSL on September 23.
