PHOTOGRAPHY is a popular hobby but learning a few technical skills can turn your amateur pictures from plain to professional.

Open Colleges’ Certificate in Digital Photography is designed for emerging photographers looking to turn a hobby into a business, says Antony Cirocco, program manager (photography).

“We show them how to put the power of creativity in their hands to produce class leading art through their photography,’’ he says.

“You need to be creative, in tune with progressive visual arts and excited by working with other people.’’

Cirocco says freelancing is “where all the action is”.

“Students learn entry level business skills and all about the world of freelancing and as they develop through the course, they will build a professional portfolio and the necessary business acumen to develop their own business, moving into the photographic industry with confidence,” Cirocco says.
