LETTER OF THE WEEK
ALTHOUGH I know that progress has to happen and things need to change, having grown up in the St Marys area I do feel a little pang of disappointment (“Transformation on the drawing ng board”, Mt Druitt-St Marys
Standard, September 7). I always thought Queen St had that little bit of a country town main street feel.
I know it has deteriorated – virtually deserted – and that times mes and society have changed.
But I can remember how bustling it once was, especially around Christmas time. I am just being nostalgic I know but, yeah, even though there are much-needed changes to be made, it would be nice to see it retain some of its country-town feel.

St Marys lost its soul decades ago. Make it like everywhere elsee and completely lose the villagevil atmosphere it used to have.have The developers always have their way.wa If Penrith City Council was so concerned about it, they wouldn’t have let it deteriorate.
