THE LETTER OF THE WEEK
DEAR Minister Rob Stokes (pictured),
I live less than 1km from this proposed incinerator. I put in a submission last year
I am asking you don’t allow this to go ahead. I don’t want my family to be subjected to toxic emissions that we won’t know about. I mean, the company will be responsible for monitoring emissions and waste from the ash. I don’t have faith it will do this with the community’s best interests … they will take into account the best interests of their business.
When we built our house in 1989, we never imagined the Pioneer Quarry would eventually become a site for burning of rubbish. The quarry was supposed to be filled with non putrescible rubbish and in 20-30 years time be remediated into a park. So you can imagine how disappointed I am at the prospect of this site having an incinerator that is the largest of its kind in the world. There are too many houses here and it should not be any where near residential areas. Why can’t this be moved to the country where there is no housing around for at least 50km? I hope you can help me and my family and all of our community by not approving this. Kerri Bradbury, Minchinbury
