HAS­SALL Grove com­mu­nity vol­un­teer Dr Ab­dul Haq was hon­oured in Fed­eral Par­lia­ment re­cently.

Chi­fley fed­eral La­bor MP Ed Hu­sic told Par­lia­ment the late Dr Haq was a great fundraiser for char­ity and peo­ple in need.

Through his in­volve­ment with lo­cal or­gan­i­sa­tion Good Morn­ing Bangladesh, Dr Haq and his col­leagues helped to raise $150,000 for the Can­cer Coun­cil of NSW over 15 years.

In the last four years Dr Haq helped raise $150,000 for a can­cer hos­pi­tal in Dhaka, Bangladesh with Ro­tary Aus­tralia World Com­mu­nity Ser­vice.

Dr Haq ran an ed­u­ca­tional coach­ing school for se­lec­tive and HSC stu­dents, and was in­volved in the es­tab­lish­ment of the Quak­ers Hill Mosque.

He leaves be­hind his wife Laila, son Ash­faqul and daugh­ter Rubaiyat.
