Politicians living in glass houses

Mt Druitt - St Mary's Standard (East) - - NEWS -

I READ with bemusement the article “MP fires up on hospitals” ( The Standard, September 21) where Edmond Atalla (Labor MP for Mt Druitt) bemoans the lack of funding going to Mt Druitt Hospital compared to Blacktown.

In the Labor Carr to Kenneally years from 1995 to 2011, I don’t remember much being done to improve our hospital.

As a matter of fact, it lost emergency surgery, intensive care, saw the downgrading of cardiac care and lost (illogicallyg y with th the growing population in Mt Druitt) medical equipment donated by the hospital volunteers to Blacktown Hospital. Labor blames all this on the bureaucracy like Steve Boyages. The same logic could be used by the Liberals.

I guess politicians in glass houses (of Parliament) shouldn’t throw criticism.

It being extremely unlikely to see improvements by the present government, I asked Mr Atalla whether Labor, if elected in 2019, could ensure the de-Claytonisation of our hospital.

Still waiting for a reply! Brent Robertson, Shalvey
